The Tigermoths (Erebidae, Arctiinae, Arctiini) of Papua Indonesia

by Rob de Vos

Euchromia creusa (Linnaeus, 1758)

[Sphinx creusa Linnaeus, 1758] (type (TL: ?) not located)

ssp. creusa (Linnaeus, 1758)
Sphinx thelebas Cramer, 1777
Sphinx irus Stoll, 1782
Glaucopsis ganymede Doubleday, 1846

Similar species

Euchromia creusa is somewhat similar to E. irius but irius has a maximum of four red bands (at least three bands) and creusa has five red bands. The white band in irius is broad and conspicuous while in creusa it is narrow and in many cases even lacking.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Sulawesi, Moluccas, Papua New Guinea, Australia, New Hebrides, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Palau, Micronesia.
