Distribution

 

 

 

STATUS: Not a common species in the Moluccas and on New Guinea, but widely distributed. It seems to prefer lowland areas. The nomotypical subspecies occurs in New Guinea, other subspecies are ssp. veitschi Butler, 1884 (North Moluccas), ssp. ribbei Druce, 1884 (Aru Islands), ssp. chlorosoma Butler, 1875 (Aru Islands) and aurantiaca Rothschild, 1897.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: Waigeo; Batanta Island: Waringkabom; New Guinea: Akimuga, Ambubaki, Arbuejo (Manokwari), Fakfak, Hotice Camp (Foja Mts), Jayapura, Kloofbivak, Lobo, Manokwari, Marina Valen, Meja Reserve, Pionierbivak, Sorong, East Tami River, Timika, Wembi. Details in gazetteer.
