The Ennominae (Lepidoptera: Geometridae) of Papua Indonesia

by Rob de Vos

Luxiaria inferna (Warren, 1903)

Distribution

STATUS: A common species, widely distributed. The taxon inferna was considered to be a subspecies of submonstrata Walker, 1861 (LepIndex). However, Holloway (1993) stated, that submonstrata does not occur east from Borneo, so the taxon inferna is considered here as to be the representative species in the Moluccas and New Guinea. Luxiaria inferna is distinctly larger than submonstrata and in males with extended white pattern (in submonstrata almost plain grey).
