Distribution

 

 

 

 

 

STATUS: Widely distributed in New Guinea, a common species. The nomotypical subspecies is found in Papua New Guinea and has minor differences with ssp. magnificata from Papua. Because also the Papuan subspecies is rather variable it is doubtful if the subspecies status holds. The dark mark at the hindwing apex may vary in size and colour.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Abmisibil, Demaisi, Mt. Goliath, Jayapura, Mt. Kunupi, Mokwam, Pass Valley, Sibil, Walmak, Wandammen Peninsula. Details in gazetteer.
