STATUS: A rare species.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Jayapura, Mapia (Kobowre Mountains*), Nabire, Utakwa River, Van Weels Camp. Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Papua New Guinea.

* note: On the distribution maps of "Sphingidae of Southeast Asia" we noticed frequently marks on the Mapia Islands, North of Numfor. By experience in collections, however, we think this is a misunderstanding and this should be the village Mapia, Southeast of Nabire in the Kobowre Mountains, which is much more often visited by collectors.
