The Tigermoths (Erebidae, Arctiinae, Arctiini) of Papua Indonesia

by Rob de Vos

Nyctemera (Nyctemera) kebeae (Bethune-Baker, 1904)

[Deilemera kebeae Bethune-Baker, 1904] (holotype: Mt. Kebea, in BMNH)

ssp. intermedia De Vos, 1997 [Nyctemera kebeae intermedia] (holotype: Abmisibil, Star Mts., in ZMAN)
ssp. occidentalis De Vos, 1997
[Nyctemera kebeae occidentalis] (holotype: Ilaga, Jayawijaya Mts., in ZMAN)

Subspecies

The nomotypical subspecies is found in Papua New Guinea. In Papua Indonesia two subspecies occur: intermedia in the Star Mountains and north of the Baliem Valley, and occidentalis in the Snow Mountains, Weyland Mountains and in the surrounding of the Wissel Lakes (Paniai). Some specimens of intermedia are resembling the nomotypical subspecies, but they still can be recognized by broader margins.
