Spilosoma persimilis (Rothschild, 1914)

Variation

This species is very variable in intensity of the black pattern on the wings. Most conspicuous and almost always present in the forewing is the black stigma patch at the end of the cell.

 


Distribution

 

 

 

 

STATUS: A common species but rather local. The species prefers high altitudes. It is restricted to the Central Mountain Range.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Abmisibil, Bilogai, Mt. Goliath (Gn. Yamin), Pass Valley, Walisi (Baliem Valley), Walmak (Nipsan), Wamena. Details in gazetteer.
