The Immidae (Lepidoptera) of Papua Indonesia

by Rob de Vos

Bursadella minatrix (Meyrick, 1906)

memorata (Durrant, 19..)
minax (Durrant, 19..)

Distribution

STATUS: This species is widely distributed in New Guinea but like all other Bursadella species not common. The holotype was found in the far East on Fergusson Island (PNG). The taxon memorata was considered to be a subspecies of minatrix but it is almost certainly the male form of minatrix, while the type of minatrix is a female. The same goes for minax which was considered to be a separate species. All should be proven by genitalia and/or DNA research. The actual publication of Durrant of both taxa could not be traced and is nowhere mentioned in literature or on internet which might indicate that they could be manuscript names.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Andai, Base Camp (Utakwa River), Canoe Camp (Utakwa River), Kapaur (Fakfak), Manokwari. Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Papua New Guinea, Fergusson Island.
