Variation

The species is extremely variable as shown below.


Distribution

 

 

 

 

STATUS: Widely distributed and a very common species. It is extremely variable in wing pattern. Characteristic is the semihyaline central part on the hindwing which resembles those of the Stictopterinae (Euteliidae).

PAPUA LOCALITIES: Waigeo Island: Camp Nok; Supiori Island: Nansfori; Biak Island: Marauw; Roon Island: Yende; Numfor Island; Mioswaar Island; New Guinea: Abmisibil, Ampas, Boma, Demaisi, Depapre, Fakfak, Huri-Mber, Jayapura, Kobrey, Kouh (Merauke District), Mt. Kunupi, Lelambo, Mokwam, Ninay Valley, Nomnagihé, Pass Valley, Prafi, Rasiei, Senopi, Sentani, Upper Setekwa River, Tuan Wowi, Uskwar, Utakwa River, Walmak, Warkapi, waterfall (Cyclops Mts), Werba. EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Indo-Australia, including Papua New Guinea and further to Fiji.
