Distribution

 

 

STATUS: Seems in Papua restricted in the area around the Cenderawasi Bay. Most abundant on Biak Island. Six subspecies are recognized, of which some hardly differ from others: ssp. nedusia from the Birdshead Peninsula, ssp. wangaarica from the Weyland Mts., ssp. meforicus from Numfor Island and Roon Island, ssp. jobia from Yapen Island, ssp. mysoriensis from Mioswaar Island and ssp. biakensis from Biak and Supiori Island.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: Numfor Island; Biak Island; Supiori Island; Yapen Island; Mioswaar Island; Roon Island; New Guinea: Mt. Kunupi, Pionier Bivak, Wangaar. Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Aru Islands, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands.
