Utetheisa (Pitasila) disrupta (Butler, 1887)

Subspecies:

ssp. burica (Holland, 1900) [Nyctemera burica] (lectotype: Buru, in CMNH)

Nyctemeria [sic] angalensis Matsumura, 1930 (holotype: Angaur, Pelew Islands, in SEHU)


Distribution

 

 

 

 

STATUS: The species is in Papua rare, but outside New Guinea it can be very abundant. In Papua it seems to prefer the northern coastal areas and islands.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: Biak Island: Biak city; Liki Island: Bobo; Mapia Island; Misool Island: Haitloh, Waigama; Mios-Num Island; Numfor Island; Owi Island (Padaido Islands); Waigeo Island; New Guinea: backland of Jayapura. Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: ssp. disrupta: Solomon Islands, Bismarck Archipelago; ssp . burica: widely distributed from New Guinea in the east to Sumatra in the west and the southern Philippines in the north.
