Distribution

 

 

 

 

 

STATUS: Widely distributed in whole New Guinea, but only in the mountains. In the western part of New Guinea it is represented by ssp. flammens Bethune-Baker, 1910. In the Arfak Mountains the red colour on the upperside may be more extended (f. discus).

PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Abmisibil, Anggi Lakes, Araboebivak, Batimban, Enarotali, Mt. Goliath, Mt. Kunupi, Langda, Menoo river, Modio, Paniai, Pass Valley, Sarmi (Foja Mts), Timeepa, Tuguwa, Wandammen Peninsula, Wangaar River, Wasior, Welesi Riveri. Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Papua New Guinea.
