Distribution
STATUS: A common species, which is restricted to the higher mountains. The species replaces Asota orbona which occurs in the lowland areas. There is hardly any variation in wing pattern. Most distinguishing character in the pattern are the two black dots at the base of the basal oval patch, which are much more oblique in position than in orbona.
PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Abmisibil, Bilogai, Bokondini, Borme, Foja Mts, Kobakma, Langda, Mabilabol, Manunggal (nr Abmisibil), Mokwam, Okbibab, Pass Valley, Walmak, Wamena. Details in gazetteer.
EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Papua New Guinea (highland).
