STATUS: Not a common species. It is characterized by a strong, rounded, submarginal dark patch on the hind-wing underside in cells 4 and 5. Separation from the closely related A. kiriwini Bethune-Baker, 1903 is based on characters of the forewing postmedian band which is inclined towards the discocellular spot, often touching it and the cell spots being outlined with some metallic blue scales (Parsons, 1998: 388).

PAPUA LOCALITIES: Waigeo Island; Japen Island; New Guinea: Sarmi, Sorong, Timika. Details in gazetteer.
