Distribution

STATUS: A widely distributed species in New Guinea with at least eight recognized subspecies. The nomotypical subspecies kummeri is found in the Central Mountain Range of PNG. Henk van Mastrigt very much doubts if all these subspecies are indeed valid since only minor variation is seen between the subspecies. Some of the variations even indicate a close link with Delias ligata.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: ssp. athena: Fakfak; ssp. rouffaer: Bilai, Homeo, Mulia; ssp. similis: Hing, Irai, Mokwam (Arfak Mts.); ssp. chiekoae: Modio, Timeepa, Wasior; ssp. fumosa: Kanggime, Kobakma, Sumbole; ssp. highlandensis: Abmisibil, Batimban, Borme, Mabilabol; ssp. ?: Foja Mts., Sentani. Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Papua New Guinea.
